Stripes & Solids Take 2

Every once in a while, I have an inspiration block (i.e. when "winter is coming"). The last few months have been no exception. I've been on permanent defrost since mid-October. Though I have some great holiday inspired outfits, I needed to "feel" warm again. Enter fall throwback. I took these pictures back in October and finally felt a calling to post them, I mean how cute is that elephant necklace?

Thrift Shop

Hey all

I have to apologise for being MIA. It’s been a hectic two weeks and I just have not had the chance to be as active on the blog and have not had time to comment either. Forgive me! Today’s look is definitely inspired by my grandmother, and its only fitting, seeing as I am wearing her skirt. Yup I wear my Grandma’s Clothes. and know, all I want to do now is sing “Thrift Shop”.

What I am wearing:

Hit or Mix

I wore this outfit earlier last fall and I have been debating whether or not to post it. It was a trial and error sort of outfit. I decided to mix an Indian piece of clothing (the Kurti shirt) with my normal everyday skirt. I got mix reviews. Some people thought it was a hit to mix the two worlds together. Others thought its best I not wear it again. What are your thoughts? Is it a hit? Or should I never even consider this again….Ever.

What I am Wearing:
Skirt: Jacob (altered to be a high-waisted skirt)

Blue Birds & Blazers

One of my favourite ways to keep warm during the changing of seasons, particularly when the days are warm, and nights are cool, is to dress up an outfit with a blazer. For one I love its functionality of keeping me warm, but also the smooth, clean lines that hug the body in all the right places. Hanging on to the last shards of summer before boot season is upon us, a good Blazer, a Vintage Clutch and some Blue Birds made the chill of night more bearable.

White Hot

It’s been scorching white hot temperatures in O town lately. Even my pictures are over exposed from the blistering sun. Not complaining. I thrive in heat. Though I wish I didn’t have to battle this awful summer cold…honestly it’s getting pretty old…If I wanted to lose my voice, or feel like I was listening to people underwater, I would live in a submarine and lose my voice the old fashioned way, like screaming my head off at a boy-band concert.

Sorry, it’s the cold medicine talking. Or is it?

Butterfly Effect

From a distance butterflies look so beautiful and gorgeous, but I won’t lie, they kind of scare me. Yes their metamorphosis is a great symbol of change and growth but let’s break it down, they’re just bugs with prettier wings.

That, and the last time I wore anything with butterflies on it was when those mini butterfly clips were all the rage. All the “cool” people wore them in their hair (I feel like I’ve just dated myself) and other than Mariah Carey’s Butterfly CD (which was flop in my opinion) I retired butterflies to little girls.

Perhaps I have been converted by the butterfly effect as this dress has made its way into my closet…Then again probably not.

Shades of Blue

In early February, I decided to take a long overdue trip home to Toronto. My usual weekend trips were put on pause when right before Christmas, when I took a huge fall and ended up bruising my tailbone. Not a fun time. But, gradually I got better and I drove home to spend my weekend with family and friends to rejuvenate my spirit.  I took some time to hang out with Lady S. We spent time gabbing (and shopping of course) at Vaughan Mills and sifting through racks of clothing we came across this dress. I just had to try it on and for the price-point (under $30) it was a no brainer.

Our chats led to discussions on how every experience we have can evoke a different set of emotions, feelings and thoughts and that all of us go through them with varying levels of intensity. It’s like a colour palate with thousands of hues. To me, blue could be represented as sky blue and to Lady S, blue could equate navy. While we all look at things in manner of ways, it boils down to this – What we perceive does not mean that it does not exist or is wrong, but just different shades of blue.

TGIF friends.

The weekend is finally here! This week has been extremely hectic for me. Not only has there been a lot going on work wise, one of my Best Friends has moved away from the city : ( It's truly the end of an era, though I am so happy for her and her new adventures.

With all that in mind, and my big epiphany, I felt more grounded and calm knowing that I was going to be setting new goals for myself. As of Today I have gone back to strict clean eating…no more cheating (i.e. no more chocolate, no more cereal by the bowlfuls and no more over eating like I've never seen cherries before…) yes people I am going back to clean eating, upping the protein and removing the things that are making me feel like garbage…

This weekend is going to be all about trying new recipes and making mistakes in the kitchen…

Stay tuned for the disasters miracles amazing new eats.
