Tis the Season

Tis the season and there's nothing like spending time with the fams and being home for the holidays. I hope all of you have had a wonderful Christmas and wish you all the best for the New Year. 2013 is going to be a great one.

Sweater Weather

It’s official. sweater weather is definitely here. With the cold weather upon us, snow piling up all around, nothing feels more wonderful than throwing on a sweater to make the frigid temperatures more bearable. I just love the feeling of a plush, cozy, warm sweater to keep me toasty. All I need now is a fireplace and a cup of hot cocoa.

Holiday Sparkle

With Christmas less than a week away, most savvy holiday shoppers are home sipping on cocoa, wrapping beautiful things by a fireplace, singing “All I want for Christmas is You” (Or so I’d like to think), and avoiding the malls like the plague. With a few more gifts still on my list (and wrapping paper…must not forget wrapping paper), I plan on braving the malls this weekend. Some may think its folly!  But, what’s a girl to do if holiday sparkle is required?

Gala Glitz

The holidays means get togethers and holiday parties. A time to reflect and celebrate with friends and family with good food and cheer. Singing Christmas carols from our childhood, and warming up homes with lights and festive cheer. If there's one holiday that has grown on me, it's been Christmas.
It's not the the gifts, or just an occasion to dress up, but a time to reflect and rekindle loving moments with people you care about and who care about you. It's also a time to remember those less fortunate and share our wealth.

It's also a time to have a fun, keep on track but also indulge (just a little!) and enjoy those holiday glitz and glamour parties too. Hope you are all enjoying this holiday season.

Vanilla

When I was a kid, I hated vanilla. Vanilla ice cream, vanilla cookies, vanilla anything. I always had chocolate or, better yet, went for something that looked different (the pistachio-avocado ice-cream looked like it needed to be eaten). It’s been the same in many of my choices in life in general – challenging myself in areas where most people would think twice, choosing one of the more difficult, less travelled roads to see where I would end up. In most cases, I have come out on top, but not without a few battle scars along the way. It wasn’t until recently that I realised that I actually enjoyed vanilla (yay vanilla bean ice cream!) which made me come to a wonderful realisation. While it can be enthralling to try something new and daring, sometimes plain old vanilla is just what the doctor ordered.

Holiday Gift Guide - Under $100

The holiday season always leaves me scrambling for gift ideas especially for ones under $100 dollars, and more so under $50. I find that more often than not, a lot of websites I visit focus on items available in the US. For us Canadians the shipping and duties can be daunting. I’ve focused on items that are available in most major Canadian urban areas (or where shipping and duties will not cost an arm and a leg). My favourite has to be the ALDO stackable bracelets. They’re perfect for a holiday outfit without the hefty price tag. Holiday Gift Guide - Under $100
