If there’s one trend I’ve noticed this coming fall season is the abundance of leopard print. It’s everywhere. While I am enjoying the revival of animal print, I feel that the zebra print is not getting the attention it deserves. 

I wore this to celebrate my twenty-something birthday a few weeks back…and rather than give my girlfriends any ammunition or smart ideas about the “cougar” look, this did just fine.

Sweet Summer

In an instant, anything can change. It could be the slight temperature difference in the air which can signal summer is coming to a close, or coming home to a flooded apartment from a leak in my A/C (a moment I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!). But being mid-August, I am already getting nostalgic. Between concerts, new partnerships, recipes, and travel, this summer has been absolutely perfect.

Viva Las Vegas

What happens in Vegas…obviously stays in Vegas. For the most part ; )

When one of my oldest friends asked me to go to Vegas with her I jumped at the chance. I mean who wouldn’t want to go to an adult playground for 4 days? I was a bit skeptical. I mean I thought it was going to be extremely cheesy and I don’t gamble so what was a girl going to do? Let me tell you if you get a chance to go, and you love clothes, beautiful things, beautiful people, beautiful food, Vegas is the place for you. With great pool-side parties during the day, night-life that’s out of this world in the evening, architecture that’s frankly mind-boggling and shopping and great eats in between it was the perfect little getaway.

But don’t be fooled though by the glitz and glamour. Though the strip was crazy busy, and oozing with money, much else I saw of Nevada was dilapidated, closed or being torn down. It was an awful feeling to see the bright lights and humming of a chaotic shock and feast to the senses on one side, while driving by boarded up shops and homes….I didn’t have the heart to take pictures because it truly made me feel guilty and sad at the same time.

By the end of all the walk and dancing I couldn’t fit my feet into a single pair of shoes I owned in 4 days. And by the end of the 4 days I was a ready to get back to reality (somewhat).

Secret Garden

TGIF friends.

The weekend is finally here! This week has been extremely hectic for me. Not only has there been a lot going on work wise, one of my Best Friends has moved away from the city : ( It's truly the end of an era, though I am so happy for her and her new adventures.

With all that in mind, and my big epiphany, I felt more grounded and calm knowing that I was going to be setting new goals for myself. As of Today I have gone back to strict clean eating…no more cheating (i.e. no more chocolate, no more cereal by the bowlfuls and no more over eating like I've never seen cherries before…) yes people I am going back to clean eating, upping the protein and removing the things that are making me feel like garbage…

This weekend is going to be all about trying new recipes and making mistakes in the kitchen…

Setting the Record Straight

Hey All,

I've had a bit of negativity directed towards the blog and while I am not going to point fingers or single anyone out, I just want to reiterate that sometimes when posting, I can be a bit quick to type. So things may be a bit misconstrued or misinterpreted. For one thing, I would not post a SINGLE picture or wear something that I didn't love or find promise in. 

I apologise to anyone who may have felt I devalued the amazing pieces I am given to wear or things I have in my own wardrobe. I do not take anything I have for granted. For those of you know know me, you know I would NEVER say something INTENTIONALLY to hurt someone.

Second, I do borrow a lot of clothing from Auntie R and I have also borrowed from Auntie B and been given hand me downs from both of them. In addition to their generosity, I've been given clothes to borrow from my  sis, my cousin and of course clothes swaps!

Since prepping for the competition, I have found that while I can still fit into some of my clothes MOST do not fit. I am so lucky that I have an extended family who are willing to share their wardrobes with me so I don't have to wear the same things everyday, nor break the bank in purchasing more clothes.

As you now I was at a bridal shower this weekend. And if I do say so myself, the Bride-to-be was a great sport with all of the games we played. We had a great time at Smokeless Joe's where we spent the better part of the afternoon and evening eating and drinking : ). An excellent way to spend a Saturday if I don’t say so myself!

My dress for the bridal shower was a pale pink/nude colour. I paired it with a great wedge heel from aldo as I figured I would be in them for a long period of time. Hence the ankle support. And I think they look pretty darn cute!

Coffee Conundrum Compliments

Well Friends

Today is a quick (lets be honest it wont be quick) anecdote about Coffee. If you would have asked March 2010 if I was a coffee drinker the answer would have been a Resounding "NO". I never felt the need for as what people would call it a "caffeine fix". However all that began to change in April of 2010. Members of my team would go down together for their morning coffee, and so as to not feel left out I began getting a coffee myself. I would purchase a medium coffee and drink a quarter of it before it became cold and who really wants to reheat coffee in a paper cup? Anyways about a month ago for the fitness competition, I was told that a cup of coffee would be good for me. So now I religiously drink a large coffee (sometimes 2!) with out a problem> ...> .Now what is the conundrum? A) it> '> s a pretty penny from my pocket book; B) I tend to buy coffee from Timmy's andddd for some reason my cups ALWAYS leak! Has this happened to anyone else (thereby having the potential to ruin an outfit (i.e. my cream skirt)) and C) I bit the bullet and bought a Bodum French Press, but still have not found the perfect coffee grounds> ...> Any of my fellow readers care to help me out with this one?

As I was having my morning coffee a friend who will now henceforth be named as "Good Things Come in Small Packages" enlightened me on this little fun fact: Did you know.. that if you hold your nose and drink coffee.. it doesn> '> t have a taste?? The taste of coffee that we get is through its aroma so if you can> '> t smell it, you can> '> t taste it :P

Who would have known?! And you know what? I tried it and it was true! --> If you try it let me know!

As I mentioned, my "place" to go for coffee is Tim Horton's just below the escalator because its so close and I can rush back upstairs if needed. Regardless of my conundrum with Coffee, I received a wonderful compliment from the cutie patootie (and I must say gay and loving it!) coffee barista. He went off in French for about two minutes on my outfits and matching make-up and jewellery. I could help but feel extra light this morning with so many wonderful things having been said about my style. He did however berate me on the oodles of change I bring for my coffee, but nevertheless, I felt fabulous as I walked back to take the escalator to my 3rd floor cubicle.
