My Escape to the Riviera Maya

Although my winter getaway trip to Mexico occurred in November 2012, I don’t think there could be a better time to revisit those warm and happy memories. It hit -27C here in Ottawa and it was all I could do to make it to work with my toes and finger tips still intact. I am just not cut out for these frigid temperatures no matter how warmly I dress. And there comes a point where I don’t care if I look like the Michelin man because sometimes looking like an inflated tire is what must be done to make it from point A to B. And needless to say, there’s probably a great outfit there. Somewhere. Under all those Layers.

Crystal clear water - flora and fauna in a near by port
Piano bar in Playa del Carmen on 5th Ave. (AVOID! these people are wonderful at scamming tourists!)
Mayan Ruins - Tulum (I have to say it was a bit disappointing)
Best Mexican food EVER - Puerto Morelos
Second best Meixcan food (and cheap too!) at Al Chile - Puerto Morelos

Do You have a Winter Getaway Trip planned?

  5. These are just the pictures I needed to see! It`s been frigid here in Paris and was even worse in Brussels, where I spent most of this week - a week in Mexico feels very needed right now, but since it`s not possible, these snaps are the next best thing :)

  6. I giggled at your Michelin man/inflated tire comment. So true! It's awesome that you got to go out for authentic foods and these little roadside stands are so quintessential Mexican. This post is a little slice of escapism.

  7. Hi, gladbyou enjoyed 2 of my favourite places in Puerto Morelos , this town has a surprising variety of good food. I always try to take my guests to the colonia on Sunday mornings early to have the tradtional barbacoa - either cochinita pibil (slow roasted baby pig in achiote) or borrego (goat) in tacos or tortas. Its quite the treat
Hopevto see you next time at The Little Mexican Cooking School

  8. Stumbled on your blog. How crazy is this, I am going to the Riviera Maya this week, but to playa del carmen. Did you dine anywhere in PDC? It looks like you may have hung out in Puerto Moreles? Great blog here.. it's nice to see an Indian fashion blogger, as I am of Indian origin too. :-)
