Often my posts are light hearted, debuting one of outfits from hand me downs or recent finds, but today, I wanted to talk about something a little more serious. It's about beauty, style, grace, poise many of the things we bloggers strive for in our photos to share with the rest of the blogger world, but also something more important - inner beauty, love, acceptance, and true beauty.
I recently had the privilege of watching a documenarty called Miss You Can Do It, which focuses on beautiful, talented young women who sometimes may not get the credit they deserve because they seem different to us. Today I wanted to celebrate the strength of these women who, in a safe space, get to experience a piece of "normalcy" in childhood. A Place where they can have a pageant and trully feel special for an evening.
While some of you may no agree with pageants on the whole, I think this is an extraordinary way to brighten spirits, let girls be girls and enjoy playing dress up for one night.
I encourage you all to watch this documentary for, if nothing else, perspective. Perhaps it may challenge you in ways you never thought it could, but today I am grateful to have met all these little fahsionistas, if even through a camera lens.
Lets embrace beauty in all its forms.
What life lesson have you learned or re-learned lately?
Earlier this summer, I hosted get-together with some
fashionable ladies who I work with. Given the audience (both here and at the
party), I thought it may be a great way to take the “hostess” look to another
level, and what better way to do it than with a little 50’s flair. I mean when else am I going to be able to prance around in mint heels, sky high buns, and pouffe skirt!?
Although the pictures came out lightly out of focus I love them and had to share.
So I am back,
officially from my month long hiatus from the blog. Honestly it was the best
thing I could have done. I feel refreshed and ready to get back in the game and
catch up majorly on the blog posts I have missed. There have been a few times where I have wanted to post a
new recipe, or even an outfit, but as of late my iphone 5 has been giving
serious issues. Technology fail!
while this outfit doesn't exactly scream summer, its been usually cool this August.Honestly 12 degrees (Celsius) makes feel more like fall than
anything else. I’m definitely not ready for jacket weather. And as cold as I
was this AM waiting for the bus, I refused to let mother nature get the best of
me…though between you and meet, I think she won.
